Operations & Maintenance

Maintenance is carried out within the District throughout the majority of the year in order to keep the canals, pipelines and ponding basins ready to hold and run water for flood control as needed and as water delivery allows.

Canal Repairs & Maintenance

Canals are maintained and repaired as necessary on an on-going bases as part of the District's responsibilities of the facilities. Maintenance and repairs are  conducted for weed control and (spraying, discing and/or sloping) and critter activity.

Weir Repairs

Head Gate & Weir Repairs

On occasion head gates and weirs must be repaired due to age or damage. Damage is billed to and paid by the party who caused the damage.

Pipeline Installation

Pipelines

Pipelines have been used in some areas for more than 50 years, and are a more efficient way to move water throughout the District without water loss, as well as allowing farmers to have more useable farming area. However, it does provide a challenge for repairs when leaks or blockages appear, or the ability to recharge the ground water in those areas.

Water Delivery by way of Canals.

Water Delivery

District water is delivered from Pine Flat dam by way of the Kings River through canals and pipelines and ponding basins throughout the District according to our allocation as provided (less channel losses) and ground water recharge as allocated to the District landowners for a fee.

Flood Control

The District diverts flood water during wet water years throughout the canal system and ponding basins to allow for ground water recharge.
